Mumbai, May 18: Two residential flats at St Mary's Road in Mazgaon caught fire on Monday afternoon, May 18. So far no casualty is reported. Firefighting operations are carried out to bring down the fire.
Chief fire brigade Prabhat Rahangdale said that firemen rescued two residents from the fifth floor and were brought to safety through the stairs while seven more stranded residents were kept on safety on the seventh floor. "Efforts are being made to rescue them," he said.
The fire broke out at aroung 12.22 PM, sources from the fire brigade said. They said that the fire broke out on the sixth floor of Shirin Manzil at Talwadi on St Mary's Road at Mazgaon. It is a seven storied building.
The fire brigade reached the spot at 12. 34 PM and catecorized the fire as level II.
Sources said that thick smoke gushing out of the floor is making it difficult for the fire fighters, however, four fire tenders, one ambulance, four water jets are trying to bring down the fire.
It is still not known how many people are trapped in the building.
