Udupi, Jan 16: The grand Choornotsava (pulling of the chariot during the day) that is customarily celebrated on the next day of ‘Makara Sankranti’ was celebrated here with devotional fervour on Friday January 15.
As solar eclipse was to occur later during the day, the ‘Brahmaratha’ was pulled early, at around 8.30 am. The Utsava Murtys of Lord Krishna and Mukhyaprana were seated in the chariot, before the devotees pulled it through the Car Street. The procedures connected with Choornotsava were guided by Paryaya Puttige Mutt Swamiji, Sri Sugunendrateertha. Swamijis of Pejawar, Kaniyoor and Bheemanakatte Mutts took part in the festivities.
