Mangalore/Udupi, Jan 14 (DHNS) : The Amateur Astronomers Association (AAA) has made arangements for the public to view the solar eclipse, which will be visible in Mangalore from 11.07 am to 3.06 pm on January 15, at St Agnes College premises.
Prof H Jayantha of AAA stated in a press release that the sun will be eclipsed annularly by the moon and the phenomenon will be visible in Mangalore by about 80 per cent.
In Udupi
The Poornapajna Amateur Astronomers’ Club (PAAC) has made arrangements to view the solar eclipse at the college campus in Udupi. Head of the Department of Physics A P Bhat told reporters that at 1.15 pm, 80 per cent of the eclipse will be visible from Udupi. He cautioned people not to view the eclipse without eye protection. The eclipse should be viewed only through a pin-hole camera or special dark glasses manufactured by the Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat, he added.
PAAC has already arranged 70 such glasses, he said and urged public not to miss the opportunity of watching the eclipse.
