Panaji, May 8: The Goa board of secondary and higher secondary education said that in order to ensure social distancing, the number of students sitting in each hall would be reduced from 25 to 12 students. The decision has resulted in increased number of sub-centers.

Class X exams would be conducted starting from May 21 and end by June 1 while the remaining three papers of Class XII would be held from May 20 to May 22 according to the new time table provided.

Due to the limited transportation availability, the Goa board chairperson, Ramkrishna Samant said that the headmasters are given the responsibility to ensure their students reach their designated exam halls.

Sawant said, "Most students are dropped and picked by their parents. But we have made it the responsibility of the school headmaster to assist students in case they have no other means to travel to and from the exam hall."

The Goa board has also issued a circular stating that the headmasters should make sure that parents remained 200 meters away from the exam centers or sub-centers.

The higher secondary teachers would be taking care of Class X exams and the secondary teachers would see the smooth functioning of Class XII exams. The non-teaching staff as well as the PTA would be involved if required for conducting the examinations.

The circular stated, "Volunteers will be positioned at the entry points to further assist candidates to reach their respective blocks. Candidates will be allowed to leave the examination hall one-by-one block wise at the end of the examination."

The centers must be having a stall installed under the guidance of the exam conductor appointed by the board. The stall would have glucose, sealed water bottles, and masks and sanitizers. Before the commencement of the exams, the classrooms would be sanitized. Students would be allowed to carry transparent water bottles, masks, and sanitizers inside the examination hall.
