Mumbai, Jan 6: In today’s global scenario every field is dealing with its own pressures. This is mostly true in the field of journalism which has become fiercely competitive. And due to the competition the field has been able to reach the people like never before, said U K Kumarnath, Mangalore bureau chief, Vijay Karnataka daily.

He was speaking at the seminar, Journalism amid pressures organized to mark silver jubilee celebration of Karnataka Sangha’s monthly magazine Sneha Sambandha at Dr M Vishveshwaraiah auditorium, Matunga (west) here, recently. He said that it is this competition that has made the field of journalism more responsible. Only if the media acts in a responsible manner that it can reach the public, effectively, he added.

Speaking on the topic, political and management pressures, he said that though everyday is a new challenge, the journalists thrive on these challenges and it is this what makes them tick, he added.

Senior litterateur Dr Vyasarao Ninjoor inaugurated the programme and released the special issue of the magazine. Litterateur and researcher Dr Taltaje Vasnthkumar presided.

Speaking on the topic, Kannadiga’s contribution in the field of journalism, Vyasarao said that the language is the key for the success of newspapers and the issue dealt with need to be debatable.

Taltaje in his presidential address hoped that the magazine changes its format from hereon and become closer to the readers through publishing profiles of the achievers.

Journalist from Udayavani group Prithviraj Kavattar expressed his views on the topic, literature, culture and market at the seminar.

Udayani daily, Mumbai sub-editor B K Umesh Kotian, Paramanand Salian, sub-editor of Billawa Association’s monthly magazine Akshaya, Eshwar Alevoor and B J Burude too spoke on the occasion.

Karnataka Sangh president Manohar M Kori, vice-president Bharatkumar Polipu, honorary general secretary Omdas Kannangar, honorary treasurer B G Nayak and editor of Sneha Sambandha magazine Srinivas Jokatte among others were present on the dais. 

As part of cultural programme, dance drama Namma Bhumi and Vande Mataram, folk dance was presented by Rangasudharshana, Sasihitlu troupe under the direction of Paramanand Salina.
