Mumbai, Jan 4: Karnataka home minister Dr V S Acharya was honoured by the metro’s unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat during his visit to the metro on Sunday January 3 to view the ongoing construction work of Karnataka Bhavan, a project of Karnataka state administration at Vashi, Navi Mumbai. 
 
The metro’s Kannada Sahitya Parishat president H B L Rao honoured Dr Acharya in a simple function held at Kerala Bhavan auditorium, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, by draping a shawl and presenting him flower bouquets and mementoes on behalf of all Kannadigas residing in the metro.
 

Veteran hotelier M D Shetty, Navi Mumbai corporator Santhosh D Shetty, and MSIL officer Mohan M Nayak were present on the dais.
 
Meanwhile, the office-bearers of various Kannadiga organizations also honoured the minister. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Santhosh Shetty said that the Karnataka Bhavan will become a landmark building when completed.  It will become a center to promote the diverse culture of Karnataka in the metro.
 
Dr Acharya said that Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa will dedicate the newly-built Karnataka Bhavan to the society in May 2010.
 
The programme began with singing by the women’s music group.  Parishat honorary secretary Natraj P S proposed the vote of thanks and Mamatha Rao compered the programme.
