Board exam schedule only if Goa remains green zone after lockdown: Sawant

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji (SS)

Panaji, May 5: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that the state will announce the schedule for the class 10 exams and the three pending papers for class 12 after May 17, when the third phase of the lockdown ends.

He said that as per the guidelines given by the home ministry, even if they are to declare the dates, it must be done after the 17th. He added that the schedule will be announced only if Goa continues to be in the green zone.

Ramakrishna Sawant, the chairman of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education said that the decision shall most probably be taken on May 18.

An executive council member of the Goa board said that announcing the dates now might lead to confusion amongst the students in case the dates are to be changed after the lockdown. Hence, the executive committee met on Monday and decided to declare the dates after the lockdown ends.

The CM commented that he understands the mental states of students and the parents regarding the exams and assured that they would announce the dates at least 10 days before the exams begin. Sawant has already requested the HRD minister and the secretary urging them to allow conduction of exams as the state has been classified as a green zone. He has further advised teachers to keep in touch with the students and counsel them.
