Saligao, May 2: Manuel Cardozo, president of the All Goa Traditional Shack Owners Association approached the chief minister and the tourism minister with an appeal to provide them relief in the form of compensation due to losses suffered because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cardozo requested a complete waiver in the license fees for the next tourism season.
He added that this was the worst tourism season for shack owners and other stakeholders. Lac of rupees that belongs to the shack owners are pending with the tourism department. He urged the government to release this money as soon as possible.
They have been informed by the authorities that the next season is likely to begin only in December. Hence, there is no scope for business. Moreover, social distancing norms would affect businesses further, he said.
