Mangalore, Dec 31: The policemen of Dakshina Kannada district have issued certain instructions to those who want to celebrate the onset of the year 2010 tonight, to ensure that the celebrations do not pave way for ugly scenes or untoward incidents.
Behaving in an obscene manner in the public, damaging public and private property etc., have been completely banned. The concerned should obtain licences from the competent authority for using microphones in public places. Those using the microphones should take precautions to ensure that other people are not disturbed.
Drunken driving, riding vehicle at high speeds and using of shrill horns have been forbidden. Two-wheelers are permitted to carry not more than two persons. Vehicles violating the rules and laws will be impounded, and action would be initiated against the erring persons and owners of vehicles.
The department has asked the people to extend cooperation whenever the policemen conduct inspections or checking, at strategic points in the city and elsewhere in the district.
Immoral, unauthorized and illegal activities will be acted against sternly as per legal norms. Those celebrating the New Year have been requested to celebrate the same in a way that it does not interfere with the comfort and happiness of others.
