Valpoi, May 1: Residents of the city in the North Goa district now have a way of paying their house tax at their doorstep. The Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) launched the smart integrated Point of Sale (POS) solution enabling online tax payment on Thursday.

The POS machines have the geo-tagging feature and will help VMC collect house tax and rent from the residents on the spot. This service was initiated in association with the directorate of municipal administration and Axis Bank.

In case a resident visits the municipality office for work such as getting a birth certificate or income tax certificate, they must produce the paid receipt of the house tax. Only after that, shall their requirements be fulfilled, said Akhtar Ali Shah, chairperson of VMC.
