Mangalore, Dec 29: Members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a protest outside the main gate of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. here on Monday seeking compensation for two persons, who were allegedly run over by a tanker belonging to the refinery on December 6.
The accident, had resulted in the death of Abubakar Siddque (18) and injury to his uncle Hamza. Deputy General Manager of MRPL Lekshmi Kumaran is said to have promised on December 6 that a job would be provided to the brother of deceased and hospital bills of the survivor paid, which was not kept.
Mr. Hamza’s life was in grave danger as he had been discharged from a hospital for not paying the bills worth Rs. 2.5 lakh, they said.
