Kasargod, Dec 28: The Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA), the Kuwait-based social welfare organization of Indian nationals announced launch of its fifth charitable Kidney Dialysis Centre (KDC) in Kasargod, Kerala.
The KDC opened in Carewell Hospital at Kasaragod is a part of KKMA’s visionary project to have one such centre in each district of Kerala. The first of its kind centre was opened at IQRAA International Hospital and Research Centre in the city of Calicut in June 2006. Following years three more such centeres were established in Trissur and Malappuram districts of Kerala and one in Mangalore, Karnataka.
K P Rajendran, minister for revenue, Kerala inaugurated the event held in this connection at Carewell Hospital, recently. He commended the projects of KKMA bringing about exemplary social change. The association, despite being an organization of ordinary Indian nationals, is able to come up with noble projects such as charitable kidney centres, educational support programmes, investment and saving opportunities, which is laudable and followed by other organization, he said.
The centre was declared open to public by the chief guests from Kuwait Abdul Rahman Al Shayeji, chairman, Wared Finance Co, Kuwait and Waleed Al Khashthi, CCR manager, Zain Kuwait. Al-Shayeji and Al Khashthi expressed their happiness to be part of such a socially important project in India. They both praised the organizations concern for the poor people and for coming up with such noble programmes.
N A Muneer, president, KKMA presided. KKMA vice-chairmen Akbar Siddique, vice-president Zubair Hajee and director for Investment PA Abdulla were present.
Speaking at the inaugural function, KKMA officials explained that joining hands with Carewell Hospital will help KKMA contribute towards the needy poor patients, who are in need of dialysis procedures at minimal cost of Rs 500 or less. A joint management supervisory committee of KKMA and Carewell will look after the day-to-day administration of the centre.
Dr M A Mohamad Afzal, director of Carewell Hospital extended his gratitude to the KKMA for establishing a charitable kidney centre in the hospital and hoped that the KDC will go a long way in helping the poor people.
