Mumbai, Dec 28: The parishioners of Sacred Heart parish of suburban Andheri (East), celebrated Christmas with great joy and devotion on Friday December 25.
Fr Anil Kumar SVD presided over the solemn Eucharistic Celebration here along with 25 clergy at the occasion. Almost 6,500 people attended the Christmas Midnight Mass, along with people of other faiths who joined their Christian friends to celebrate the birth of Christ.
The service began with children's choir, singing Christmas carols. Thereafter, the statue of Infant Jesus was brought to the main altar in a solemn procession by Deacon Naveen Rebello as the entire congregation sang, ‘Glory to God in the highest and peace to people of goodwill on earth.’
Fr Jacob SVD delivered the homily themed ‘The promise fulfilled.’ Sacred Heart parish priest Fr Baptist Pais SVD delivered the vote of thanks.
The historical crib at the entrance of the parish attracted thousands of people on the day of Christmas.
