Indian couple die five days apart in UAE


Sharjah, Apr 27 (IANS): An Indian couple from Kerala, who had been married for 35 years, died five days apart in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), their family said, adding that neither of the deaths were related to the novel coronavirus.

Sharjah resident Sophia Habeeb, 57, died on April 18 following a week's treatment at a Dubai hospital, Gulf News reported on Sunday.

Her husband A.R. Habeeb Rahman, 66, passed away at a Sharjah hospital on April 23.

One of the couple's three children said their mother had died of a heart attack and had tested negative for COVID-19 three times.

She added that their father "died inshock after our mother left us".

    Very sad to hear this news. They truly love each other. Rest in peace. In this situation it will be very difficult to accept their bodies in india. Though they not die bcz of covid19 people will still think its bcz of covid19 i hope in india they understand the situation and accept the bodies as soon possible

    Non acceptance of bodies in India of Indian Citizens is also a big worry for Senior Citizens in UAE.
