Panaji, Apr 27: Opposition party leader, Digambar Kamat on Sunday advised Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to bring back students, workers and patients who had travelled out of the state and now wish to return. He added that several Goans were stuck outside Goa with limited resources and should be brought back home.
The former CM also welcomed Sawant’s announcement that after completing the due process, Goan students stuck in other states could return. He went on to say that as they will complete 43 days of lockdown by May 3, the CM will need to work out a plan in order to let Goans who are stuck in other states due to lockdown, to return home.
On Saturday, Sawant announced that Goan students stuck in other states and wishing to return home, can apply online to the collector of their area and to the collector of the district in Goa they reside in. The collectors shall then grant permission on case-to-case basis.
There are many Goans who had visited other states for religious and medical reasons and are now stranded outside the state. Kamat said that just as seafarers have been allowed to return, guidelines should be framed for others who wish to return to the state as well.
