Panaji, Apr 25: Even as the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued guidelines on Friday evening allowing shops, Goa government on Saturday continued its ban on several activities including Casinos, Gyms, Night Clubs and others.

State Health Director Jose D’Sa, in an order issued on April 25, has listed out various activities that will continue to be closed under Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.

The order mentions that all the gymnasiums, cinema theatres, public swimming pools including those in hotels, Casinos, Spa and Massage Parlours, Salons, River Cruises, Night Clubs and Multiplexes to remain shut down until further orders.

Despite the MHA order issued on Friday night and subsequent clarification on Saturday, the shops in the rural and urban areas of the state continued to have shut down.

In majority part of the state, the shopkeepers were unaware about the MHA order, while many could not open it because of lack of supplies.

The MHA order has banned sale of liquor as per National Directives for COVID-19 management.
