Udupi, Dec 23 (The Hindu): The 33rd State-level Cub and Bulbul Utsav of Bharat Scouts and Guides will be held at Silas International School here from December 27 to 30.
Speaking at the preparatory meeting of the utsav here on Tuesday vice-president of the district unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides P. Rabindra Nayak said that the preparations for the utsav were progressing smoothly. Nearly 1,000 students from across the State in the age group of five to 10 and 200 teachers would be participating in the event.
Participants would be lodged at Silas International School. If necessary, the primary and high schools in Hanumant Nagar would be made available for lodging. The temples at Kollur, Mandarti, Anegudde and Padubidri had agreed to provide food to the participants, Mr. Nayak said.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer Ramachandra Bairy said that round-the-clock services of a doctor and an ambulance would be made available for the four-day camp. Police officer S.V. Girish said that adequate security arrangements would be made for the camp. Commissioner of Udupi City Muncipal Council (CMC) Gokuldas Nayak said that generator and loudspeaker would be provided at the camp.
Transport facility
Regional Transport Officer H.N. Ramesh said that six buses would be provided to transport the delegates from the service bus stand to the camp site and back. These buses would also take the delegates to tourist spots at Malpe and Manipal, he said.
Mr. Rabindra Nayak said that the State unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides had released Rs. 1.4 lakh for the utsav, while the G. Shankar Family Trust had donated Rs. 50,000.
The Shiroor Math would provide scarves, while the Manipal Group of Educational Institutions would provide bags for the participants. Those interested in donating or helping the camp could meet the organisers, he said.
Minister for Sports and Youth Services D. Gulihatti Shekhar would inaugurate the utsav and Minister for Home and Muzrai V.S. Acharya would preside over the inaugural function, he said.
