Mangalore, Dec 21: A person was found murdered in Nadumugeru near Jeppinamogaru here under rural police station limits on Monday, December 21.
The deceased person has been identified as Basheer (60), a resident of Nadumugeru. He was engaged in selling dry fruits near Lady Goschen Hospital area in the city. The body is partially decomposed suggesting that the murdered might have occurred last night.
Police said that the family of the deceased informed that he always reached home by 8.00 pm and when he did not return on time yesterday the family began inquiring of his arrival.
The body was found at a barren land adjacent to national highway and is suspected to be dumped after the murder. The body bears injuries made by a sharp weapon.
Basheer, basically from Calicut lived with his family near Pakshikere before shifting to a rented house near Nadumugeru.
Mangalore rural sub-inspector Prakash and team are investigating the case. The reason for the murder is yet to be known. Personal rivalry or family discord may be the cause for murder, said sources.
Meanwhile, the body has been shifted to the District Wenlock Hospital for postmortem.
