Goa to test 5,000 people with ILI symptoms

Panaji, Apr 21 (IANS): Goa will test around 5,000 people with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms, whose names feature in an extensive survey conducted earlier this month by the state government to track down likely Covid-19 suspects.

The survey report was submitted to the state government, here on Tuesday.

The data was analysed by a team of medical professionals, led by Jagdish Cacodcar, Professor and Head of Department of Preventive and Social Medicine at the Goa Medical College.

The people with ILI symptoms would be done in phases as per the testing protocol, said a government spokesperson,

Over 500,000 people were surveyed during the drive.

On Monday, the Union Health Ministry declared Goa 'Covid-free'. Goa had recorded seven cases since the pandemic broke out. All of them have now tested negative and discharged from hospitals.
