Abu Dhabi, Apr 15: The Dubai World Trade Centre has been converted into a massive field hospital and is set to hold upto 3,000 COVID-19 patients as the city gears up to fight the global pandemic.
Dubai health officials claim to have been prepared to deal with any emergency situation if it would arise. Scores of nurses and other medical staff are set to deal with any influx of patients.
Director general of the Dubai health authority Humaid Al Qutami in a televised news conference last week said that Dubai would be setting up two field hospitals. "We will have more than two field hospitals ready in Dubai in the coming days to be ready for any situation," he said. He added saying that the hospitals could offer about 4,000-5,000 beds.
The director said that the hospitals in Dubai had the capacity nearly 5,000 beds for coronavirus patients yet the authorities are prepared to deal upto 10,000 or more cases.
