UAE: Federal govt employees to receive paid leave on select employees

Abu Dhabi, Apr 9: The UAE government adopted a resolution to grant paid leave to select categories of employees at the federal government. The cabinet was chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai.

The resolution was taken as a part of various precautionary measures to contain the ongoing pandemic.

The resolution stated that employees at the federal government who are married can take full paid leave to take care of their children below the age of 16.

However, people of determination and spouse under quarantine or subject to self-isolation that demands no contact with the family members would not be considered as per the decision taken by the ministry of health and prevention. The resolution also includes employees whose spouses are working in the health sector such as doctors, nurses, paramedics or any other technical jobs which may expose them to infected people throughout this emergency period.


The UAE government undertook this decision in consideration towards providing a safe and healthy working environment for the employees and protect the health of their family members during this ongoing crisis which additionally demands greater efforts and longer working hours and sometimes exposure to infected people.
