Mangalore, Dec 8: “The ‘Yuvajana Mela-2009’, a sports and games meet organized by the youth affairs and sports department of the state government, will be held at Sullia this year,” said S Angara, member of legislative assembly from Sullia constituency.
Speaking at a press conference here on Monday December 7 he said that to encourage the youth to participate in sports and games, the government is supporting the Yuvajana Mela every year.
“This time it is going to be organized in Sullia at Government College ground from Saturday December 26 to Monday December 28”, he said.
“This three-day meet will witness the participation of nearly 850 youths selected from various sports and games events held at the regional levels,” said Angara, adding that there will be 17 events with the participants being in the age group 18 to 35.
“The Yuvajana Mela will be inaugurated by B S Yeddyurappa, chief minister of Karnataka, on December 26”, he added.
