Udupi, Dec 6: Union energy minister Sushil Kumar Shinde inaugurated the ‘Anna Dharma’ dining facility set up at Sri Krishna Math on Sunday December 6.
In his inaugural address, he said, “The essence of Indian culture lies in unity. Service to humanity can bring the graces of the Almighty”.
Shinde announced that the union ministry of energy has the objective of providing electricity to every household across the country within two years which will empower every citizen to enjoy prosperity.
KPCC president R V Deshpande presided over the programme.
Deshpande said, “Love and caring for the elderly has lessened in the 21st century of the IT era. The elderly are being confined to the care of old age homes that are mushrooming in the country. The religious heads have significant responsibility in existing times to advise the younger generation to support their elderly parents despite being hard pressed for time”.
Sri Sugunendrateerta Swami of Puttige Math delivered a spiritual message to the gathering on the occasion.
Sri Raghumanyateerta Swami of Bheemanakatte Math and his disciple Sri Raghuvarendrateerta Swami were also present.
Former union minister Oscar Fernandes, Maharashtra minister Suresh Shetty, Tirumala Tirupati temple senior advisor P V R K Prasad, Coimbatore entrepreneur P R Vittal, Hong Kong entrepreneur Rajkumar Singhal, Mangalore entrepreneur Madhusudan D Kushe, Tirupura entrepreneur P V Ravi, and Mumbai entrepreneur Shivaram Shetty were present on the dais.
Retired principal Prof M L Samaga welcomed the gathering. Rajgopal Acharya compered the programme.
