Mangalore, Dec 4: The harrowed family of a man, which was desperately trying to get the body of a man,who died at Al-Khatir in Saudi Arabia under suspicious circumstances, received it after a gap of four months after his death. The family is highly thankful to Mangalore Association of Saudi Arabia (MASA), whose members put in lot of efforts and extended support to the family in shipping the mortal remains of the man to his native place, a task that had posed a great challenge for the family.
MASA has helped the family of Ravi T Poojary, who was allegedly murdered in Al-Khathir, but his body was found two days later, on July 17, 2009. The office bearers of MASA succeeded in their prolonged efforts in getting the mortal remains of Ravi Poojary shifted, to his home at Kodikal in the city. The dead body was bought to city on November 25 and his funeral was also held on the same day after four months of his demise.
Ravi T Poojary, basically from Udupi district, had settled in Kodikal here, after his marriage with Varija, a resident of Bejai. He was working in Saudi Arabia, for the last 24 years, as a tailor. The couple has no children. His wife was completely feeling helpless after hearing about the sad demise of her husband. She remained clueless about the ways and means of getting her husband’s body here, as she did not have any links in that country. Her relatives then contacted the office bearers of MASA.
52 year- old Ravi Poojary was working as a tailor in Al-Khatir, when he lost his life. His body was found hanging at his room, where he also worked, when an Indian friend came to see him. The friend later informed someone here, through whom the family members in the city got the news of his death. But, two days has passed since Ravi’s death, when the friend visited him. A family member claimed that the post mortem report had confirmed it to be a case of murder.
Gayathri, a relative of Ravi Poojary, reminiscing the help rendered by MASA, thanked them for being instrumental in helping the victim’s family and said that it would have been impossible to get the body of Ravi Poojary here, without the help of MASA.
