Udupi, Dec 3: Uncommon things normally get people’s attention. Many a time, people involved with such things, seek publicity. An unusual marriage that occurred here on Wednesday December 2 attracted the attention of many, not because the concerned wanted to get publicity, but because the incident was both uncommon and unusual, besides being novel.
Pranesh Shet, a local tourist guide, who usually guides the foreign visitors to the district, married Gabriel Martha from Berlin, Germany, at the auditorium of Raghavendra Mutt here on Wednesday. This is not all. Gabriel is aged 52, while Shet is 40 years old. For Gabriel, this is the second marriage, and for Shet, she is his first love.
While guiding the foreign travellers, Shet fell in love with Martha. “We both liked each other. Therefore, we are marrying,” Shet clarified. Gabriel, who runs a business in Berlin, can not stay for long periods in India. Shet also does not propose to become a permanent resident of Germany. They plan to visit and stay with each other as long as possible, at their convenience.
The adage that marriages are made in heaven, seems to be true, at least in this case.
