Mangaluru, Mar 30: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district is in its third straight day of total lockdown today, and all commercial establishments are closed. But going by the response of the citizens during the first two days, the third day's picture has been disheartening.

In the morning on Monday, March 30, a few shops were open. The people, overlooking the basic need to maintain social distance, were seen to vie with each other to buy things they needed. Today, vehicular traffic was more and the people do not seem to have taken the warning issued by the police to seize the vehicles of violators seriously.

A couple of shops were open at Marnamikatta and Attavar in the morning today. People bought fruits and vegetables without wearing masks and without feeling the need to maintain social distance. The people showed this urgency by risking their health despite assurance from the minister to allow shops to function from 6 am to 3 pm tomorrow.

In rural places too, shops were seen doing business clandestinely through the backdoor. Some were seen jacking up prices of fruits and vegetables, duly uisng the opportunity provided by the situation.

No doubt the police is doing an excellent job. Still not able to understand what for that total bandh like lock down for three days.

Anyway Corona virus cannot be eliminated with a three days lock down, it is proven that minimum 14 days lock down is required.
    \
So it is quite natural that, once lock down is relaxed after a total lock down of three days, people will definitely come out of their home with panic buying. Let the authorities permit the shops selling essential items, repeat, essential items only, for a few hours daily.

That's the price for no planned lockdown..let the essential shops..mind u only essential shops be open 6 AM to 6 PM...people should make a list of requirement ...go to the shop give it to them , Collect a token number and return home...once they are packed and ready ,the shop should Call them....we go pay cash ,collect the essentials and return...no crowding ...it is the anxiety of the people that is making them behave irrationally...if they are assured of the availability I don't think thay will be anxious...simple

Some minor mistake because of practice and human tendency. Citizens and police people taken very good care for maintaining selfdistance. There cannot be hundred percent perfect. When moreperfection black dot immediately visible. Effort s of all the concerned are appreciable and yielded very good results

One should think in an open market it's impossible to practise safe distance considering the situation & population! We Indians are accustomed to certain habits, which to break will be very hard as the saying goes "old habits for hard"!!

Social distancing is already gone for a toss by the large wave of panicky migrants huddled up at various borders w/o basic facilities, let alone masks & social distancing! They are ready to face CORONA but desperately want to reach their native places.

Please keep shops open at least 4 hours a day to avoid rush This way if bundh is imposed people will definitely become nervous about tomorrow and start stocking things like previous weeks I have visited more reliance mart and returned with few items seeing the rush at billing counter where social distance is impossible . I thought if I stay there for some more time definitely it may be hazardous for me even one infected in the store district administration is not controlling infected but making others to leave in danger. See after three days suddenly they have told people to purchase daily needs Definitely this will result in black market products having m r p can not be sold at higher rate but what about staples vegetables fruits which will not have m r p shop owners try to make good losses by increasing prices I don't know why our district administration doing this auspicious activities

All citizens in a flurry excitement to get their household essentials. There is a rush when any outlet is open since all citizens were in a surprise on 24th night when there was decision taken for a lockdown for 21 days.

How come some shops were open? How people were buying things when police were around? Why didnt you all block the market? These rules are only for some who stay obediently? When you apply some rules see that it should be implemented properly... Equal to all. No partiality please......why police were not on rounds? Yesterday also the same... People just buy without any any keeping distance and some without masks and our police were just quiet... If such things are going on all of us will loose patience for sure...

Poor management from authority. If you are closing the district for 3 days at least you can inform the public in advance so that they can make necessary arrangements. You are not given any hint so they not bought for these 3 days. Who are these people who are buying? They don't have anything to feed their family so they are coming out. They don't have choice. Ay least announce today that 31 shops are open and next 3 days again lock down.

It's easy to blame people but what about the administration which keeps changing its words? If there was no uncertainty, people wouldn't behave like this. The administration should give clear instructions and then not backtrack from it.

Such type of 'Chalta hai' attitude shall put India on exponential growth of Coronavirus positive patients. Our common enemy Coronavirus is invisible to naked eyes. Need to remind ourselves that invisible does not mean powerless . India as a whole and most cities in India are ill equipped to handle large number of Coronavirus patients. Better to make every possible effort towards PREVENTION as we lack infrastructure to CURE.

People shopping like there is no tomorrow or day after.
Shops will be open even after that.
What will people who hoarded 25 kgs of grains and pulses do? The lockdown of 21 days is not going to be extended. All your grains will get spoiled. Let others also purchase especially for people who are daily wagers, labourers, those don't have storage or fridge to store perishables.

    Dear Mr. Pais,
Please take back your statement. Why are you relating Parashurama Shristi with this. This is not the time to to play with the sentiments of the people. We do not say that with ego or pride. We are god fearing people. We have faith and belief in god that he will not let us down. And those who have liked his comments are no different.
