Mumbai, Mar 28: As blood banks in the state are likely to face an acute shortage of supply due to the ongoing lock down, Maharashtra health minister, Rajesh Tope urged people on Friday to donate blood. He said that blood supply is required not only for coronavirus patients but people suffering from other illnesses too.
“Blood has a shelf life of 35 days. Blood is something that has no alternative. We cannot do without it. The state Blood Transfusion Council told me that the stock of blood will be sufficient only for seven to eight days,” he said.
He said that the police and administration must hold blood donation camps adhering to social distancing.
