Mangaluru, Mar 28: A delegation led by former state health minister U T Khader, met V Ponnuraj, who has been appointed as the nodal officer of Dakshina Kannada district for coronavirus cases, and extended some suggestions.
Noting that the district Wenlock Hospital has been transformed into hospital exclusively for COVID 19 cases, the delegation requested the nodal officer to ensure that patients from both BPL and APL categories who are shifted to private hospitals from here get free treatment and medicines. It also wanted to make sure that about 230 patients who used to get dialysis service in Wenlock Hospital continue to get it even after being shifted elsewhere.
Its other suggestion is to open help centre outside the hospital to help and guide the emergency patients coming to the hospital, to get treatment in nearby private hospitals. Giving responsibility to 'Arogya Mitra' to ensure that the patients who are either shifted or newly registered in private hospitals are not inconvenienced and they get proper facilities is the other suggestion of the delegation.
