Bhatkal, Mar 27: With the number coronavirus cases increasing in Bhatkal taluk Uttara Kannada district administration on Friday, March 27, declared medical health emergency in Bhatkal.
Uttara Kannada deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Harish Kumar issued the order using his special powers under section 34 of Disaster Management Act 2005.
An official release from the office of the deputy commissioner stated that emergency has been declared under the limits of Bhatkal town municipal council, Jali Patan panchayat, Shirali gram panchayat, Heble gram panchayat, Mavinkurve gram panchayat, Mundalli gram panchayat, Yalvadikavoor gram panchayat and Mutalli gram panchayat with immediate effect until further orders.

This is done in order to prevent the spreading of the dreaded coronavirus disease across the district as per the reason stated in the order of the DC.
Bhatkal turned a ghost town on the afternoon of Friday the DC ordered the closure of all the shops including medical stores, food and vegetable vendors also. All the medical emergencies will be handled by the district administration according to the order. Public is asked to contact helpline number 104 for any kind of assistance.
Strict action with imprisonment will be taken against the violators of this emergency orders according to the statement given by Bharat, assistant commissioner of Bhatkal.
