Mangaluru: Police make lockdown violators hold ‘I am guilty’ placard

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Mar 27: The whole country is locked down in order to contain the coronavirus pandemic which is spreading in alarming proportions. However, it seems some people find joy in violating the norms of the restrictions and putting their as well as the life of others in jeopardy.

Police tried all methods from beating and asking the violators to do push ups, squats etc but the people continue to come out for silly and unnecessary things. Now the police the city have come up with a novel idea of shaming such people.

Police of the city, along with Ramkrishna Mission volunteers make the violators to understand the graveness of the situation and make them hold placards which says 'I am guilty. I have violated Covid-19 lockdown orders.'

Meanwhile, the death toll in Karnataka due to coronavirus reached to three with the death of 65-year-old man in the district of Tumakuru.

Vehicles of such people can be impounded till the curfew is relaxed.

Ground rent for the violator's vehicle too must be introduced. Rents to be fixed at very high rates.

Heavy penalty for violating curfew can be introduced.

If possible freeze all their bank accounts for 5 years.

What the police is doing is good and commendable. I am thankful to Mangolrean Police for all that your trying to do. But what about basic groceries? What if those people are coming out to buy basic groceries from shops and not just to roam?? In cities like Bangalore, there is 24/7 grocery supply in certain areas but not here.. Govt retailers like Hopcoms are also closed..What do people who don't have refrigerators do? People who cannot stock perishable food do they have any alternatives? The newspapers are saying groceries will be supplied, but when shops are not opened how is this gonna be possible. Before suggesting harsh punishments we should try seeing the other part of the story.

Please check from the violators whether they are carrying goods. Many come there to block roads on these busy hours. Coolies are carrying weight on their heads to long distance whereas these roamers simply cause nuisance. I personally went for marketing and it took long time. I could witness many two wheelers like that. Sad to say it here.

Days can be passed by grams, cereals and millets too. I went to market to buy fruits and vegetables of 2 days but not to stock for 2-3 weeks.

The whole country seems to misunderstand Covid-19.

Generally healthy people do not die! It will be no more than a flu attack for them.

Has the whole country gone mad?

All possible steps should be taken to stop people from coming out. Although during the day, the number of people coming out is less, come 5 o'clock, they come out in droves. Not only that, they bring their children along. At any cost, people should be made to remain indoors. No two ways about that. Then and only then do we stand a chance of defeating the corona virus. We have to do it on a war footing. I feel the local representatives like the MLA and the Corporator should take an active part and advise the people not to venture out. The representatives of the BJP and those of the congress should ask their well wishers to remain indoors. If one is found coming out, his neighbour will also be tempted to come out and that becomes a big long line. Nobody should be allowed.

Yes after 5 pm clamp total curfew. Like in Kuwait evening 5 to morning 4 am. No shops should be open after 5 pm. Except medical shops.

Corona is not a joke. Do not venture out unless your lives are dependent on it. Hospitals are not the solution providers, they are a war zone now.

That is even more dangerous for spread of Corona. The same placard is held on by multiple people. One infected person can freely distribute Corona to others by this Stupid Act. Use your brains!!!

Mr jossey I have been agreeing all your comments for so long cause they made sense but this one is too much.

One thing you have to remember is they are DOCTORS. They have got that DR because of something. They are government employees they will get transferred it does not mean brace that particular doctor is her there will be deaths there won't be deaths that's very wrong. Tell me one thing in Mumbai there are patients dieing and recovering is it because of this particular doctor please talk with some sense your idea of bringing politics to this topic is also not right. Now please don't call be a blind bhakth 🤣😂
