Udupi, Nov 27: Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, will be the leading force during the third Paryaya of Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji of Shirur Mutt here, which is set to begin on January 18, 2010.
Symbolically, Diwan of Shirur Mutt, Latavya Acharya, handed over the traditional betel leaves, areca nuts, Prasadam of Lord Krishna along with ‘Rajata Patra’ to Dr Veerendra Heggade, on behalf of Shirur Mutt, on Thursday November 26. Dr Heggade received the same. S D Pejattaya, Vrijanath Acharya, Krishmamurty Acharya etc., were present.
It has been decided to limit the total time of the Darbar of the next Paryaya to 30 minutes, as the coming Paryaya will have a delayed Muhurat. As per the finalized programme, the Shirur Mutt Swamijii will proceed to take a dip in Dandateertha at 2.30 am, and the Paryaya procession will begin from Jodukatte at 4.30 am. The procession will reach Sri Krishna Mutt at 6.30 am, and after the Swamiji gets the darshan of Lord Krishna through the ‘Kanakana Kindi’, the ritual of handing over the ‘Akshaya Patre’ by his predecessor to him, will be completed at 8.15 am. Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji will ascend the Parayaya throne at 8.30 am.
At the Darbar, apart from the presentation of Prasadams on behalf of temples like Tirupati, Mantralaya and Dharmasthala, the benedictory speech by Pejawar Swamiji is the only item on the agenda. The felicitations etc., which usually are held at the Darbar, will be held at Rajangana that day at 6.30 pm.
Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji will commence his customary pilgrimage prior to taking over the Paryaya term, on November 29, the Mukkoti Dwadashi day. He will enter the city after completion of his tour, on January 1, after performing puja at the base Mutt in Shirur, and he will be received through a procession, which is set to start at 4 pm that day.
