Bantwal, Mar 26: Former state minister B Ramanath Rai, called upon the people to voluntarily support the lockdown enforced by the government as COVID - 19 has posed threat to people and economies globally. He asked the government to provide provisions of daily need along with rice free of cost to poor people through ration shops.
Noting that the government has announced lockdown for a period of three weeks, he pointed out that in Karnataka, certain exemptions have been announced. He sought distribution of salt, tamarind, red chilly, oil and coconut along with rice free of cost to the people.
In a press release, Rai asked the people to follow the instructions issued by the government relating to lockdown in all seriousness and take care to see that coronavirus infection does not get passed on from one another.
