Chikkaballapur, Mar 25: A woman who was in home quarantine in her house in Gauribidanur town in the district on account of suspicion about coronavirus infection, breathed her last late night on Tuesday March 24.
The 70-year-old woman in question belonged to Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh. She had undertaken holy pilgrimage of Mecca, and was under quarantine since the last nine days at her son's residence here.
On Tuesday, she developed respiratory complications and came to the district hospital. Later, she was sent to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital Bengaluru for further treatment. Treatments failed to save her, and the woman lost her battle for life late night on Tuesday.
After she got admitted into Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, her blood samples and throat swab samples were collected for testing. Whether she was infected with coronavirus can be confirmed only on receipt of test report.
R Latha, deputy commissioner of the district, confirmed that the lady, who suffered from blood pressure, had returned from Mecca and was under home quarantine since then. "She also had suffered from injury in her leg on account of fall. She was also suffering from heart-related ailments. On account of breathing problems, she came to the hospital yesterday. Exact reasons for her demise are not known, and it is not confirmed whether she was coronavirus positive. We had taken all precautionary measures," she stated.
