Bangalore, Nov 27 (DHNS): The JD(S) and the Congress are likely to have a formal understanding in fighting the ensuing elections to Legislative Council seats.
According to the party sources, leaders of both parties have almost agreed upon joining hands and they are now holding discussion with regard to the seat sharing. The JD(S) is bargaining for eight to 10 seats. The Congress does not want to give more than three.
The elections will be held for 25 seats on December 18. Of the 25 MLCs whose term is getting over, 19 belong to the Congress and one to the JD(S).
JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and his son H D Kumaraswamy are camping in Delhi for holding talks with Congress leaders. On Thursday, KPCC President R V Deshpande too left for Delhi.
Meanwhile, three independent candidates filed their nomination papers from Bijapur taluk, Basavanabagewadi and Kodagu local authorities seats on Thursday.
