Udupi, Mar 25: The total lockdown call made by Prime Minister Narenda Modi, has received tremendous response from the people of this city.

All shops and establishments downed their shutters. People were seen making a beeline for provision stores to buy essentials. The police department too is working with conviction to make sure that the three-week long lockdown becomes successful.

Patrolling all over the city has been streamlined, and the police could be seen advising people moving around on the roadside to confine themselves to their homes.

From today, Malpe port also has been shut. Only boats which had left for fishing have been permitted to return.

In the daily market here, people were seen buying vegetables and fruits in the early morning. Essential services like hospitals and medical shops are open. People could be seen forming lines in front of medical shops to stock the medicines they might need during the lockdown period.

People's movement has been sparse. Only a handful of vehicles can be seen on the roads. Every person entering KMC Hospital Manipal is allowed inside after thorough check. A help desk has been set up outside the outpatient department for the convenience of the people.

Good people follow guidelines to stay away.I saw a video in which people got down to street with music and dance before the shut down hour to be announced. Is it really educated people doing ?Crazy people.why do they not understand with so many people gathering so close by another is enough to get infected, before the hour has started? It must be in Bangalore?well whatever they think and act, hope this corona disappears fast .Sad that some doctors refuse to treat patients of another doctor s patient, whereas the person needs urgent wound disinfection and dressing.what a situation in mangalore.

People of Udupi are a lot more sensible especially in these tense situations. They have responded well to the janata curfew as well. Everyone are bit more alert now after the first positive case in the city.
