Udupi: ‘Mumbai VT – Karwar Super Fast Express to be Extended to Mangalore’

Udupi, Nov 26: The Mumbai VT – Karwar Super Fast Express recently introduced on a permanent basis will be extended to Mangalore from mid December, informed Railway Passengers’s Association president R L Dias.

Dias stated in a press release that in his meeting with the Konkan Railways chief held recently at Bhelapur, it was requested to extend Mangalore-Bangalore day train to Karwar and Mumbai-Karwar train to Mangalore. The former request was rejected by the official stating that Karwar was a small railway station with no proper facilities required for extension of day train, he stated and added however agreed to the suggestion that Mumbai-Karwar train may be extended to Mangalore. The extension will help people traveling from Karwar to take a train to Bangalore from Mangalore, he added.  

The Mumbai-Karwar express was announced in the railway budget 2009. The said train began its service from September 7 last and its term will complete on December 7. The said train (No 0121) will start from Mumbai VT to Karwar on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays at 10.15 pm and will reach Karwar at 1.30 pm the next day. The train (0122) will start from Karwar at 3.30 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and reach Mumbai VT at 6.15 am on the next day. The train service (2133/2134) flagged off union minister for railways Mamata Banerjee will provide permanent service.

    Good news to all Mangloreans. I as a journalist, has been observing the continues fights Mr. R.L.Dias is taking for this kind of facilities and make it a point to carry such news in the Kannada newspaper published from Mumbai.

    Lets not halt progress based on selfish interests. But a special levy should be put on states like Kerala, Tamilnadu and Bihar which are not doing enough to encourage industrial development in their states whereby the people are forced to migrate to other cities. Mangalore was once a peaceful town, now its filled with people from Kerala. And very soon it will become a haven for terrorists too. The local easy going, fun loving people are being eradicated and the flavour of Mangalore no more. This happened to Bangalore at one time and we shouldnt allow it to happen to Mangalore. We should pass a law where by people from these states should not be allowed to buy properties unless they lived here for over 25 years.

    Very good news. After extending the Mumbai - Karwar train up to Mangalore, space is available at Karwar station so that Bangalore - Mangalore Train can be exteded upto Karwar. Otherwise Bangalore - Mangalore train can be extened upto Madgoan which solves all hindrences for extention.

    It's a GOOD NEWS to all Mangaloreans. It should be extended upto Mangalore only, not beyond Mangalapuram.
