Udupi, Nov 25: The ‘30th State-level Ranga Bhoomi Drama Competitions’ were inaugurated at MGM College here on Tuesday November 24.
The city-based Ranga Bhoomi, an organization striving to promote theater throughout the state, has organized the drama competitions which will conclude on Monday December 7.
MGM College principal Dr P Venkataramana Gowda inaugurated the event.
Ranga Bhoomi president Anand Ganiga, vice-presidents Tallur Shivaram Shetty and U Uppunda, and secretary Vasudev Rao were present on the dais.
BEL Lalit Kala theater troupe staged a Kannada play ‘Kadhadidha Neeru’ at Ravindra Kala Mantap of MGM College, on the first day of the contest.
Various theater groups will be stage a play on each day of the competition.
The winning troupe will be awarded Rs 15,000 cash and a trophy as first prize, while Rs 10,000 cash and a trophy will be the second prize and Rs 5,000 cash and a trophy will be the third prize.
