Kundapur, Mar 21: A murder was averted on Saturday, March 21. Thanks to Kundapur police, who intercepted the accused and saved a live in the nick of time.
The cops arrested the main accused Danish Patil and his three accomplices and seized imported weapons from their possession.
On Saturday, Danish tried to kill his business partner Mohammed Shakir (33). Danish, a resident of Rathnagiri had entered into a fishing business on partnership basis with Kundapur resident Mohammed Shakir. Both had agreed on few deals costing lacs.
The dispute between business partners started when Danish asked Shakir for Rs 50 lacs. However, Shakhir refused to pay the money as he had given Danish his fair share. Angered that Shakir refused his request, Danish started harassing Shakir and his father on phone. He had also given them death threats.
On March 20, Danish and his three accomplices had rented a room in Nagu Palace Hotel. He called Shakir on Saturday and asked him to meet him in the hotel, to sort out financial matters
Shakhir agreed for the meeting and was on his way to the hotel, when Danish and his accomplices waylaid Shakir’s vehicle near Basha transport. However, Shakir managed to escape and the four started chasing him. Meanwhile, locals tipped the police, who swung into action and intercepted Danish’s vehicle. All four were arrested.
The police seized imported weapons and the Xylo car with Maharashtra registration number from the possession of the accused. Further investigations reveal that Danish had hired his accomplices with an intention to kill Shakir. They had planned to kidnap Shakir and kill him after getting their work done.
A case is registered in Kundapur police station.
