Mangalore, Nov 23: A woman, said to be working as a sales girl in a garments shop in Bangalore, has filed a complaint in Urwa police station here against Guru, Ramu and Vijay from Shimoga, alleging that the trio had abducted and gang-raped her.
Urwa police personnel swung into action immediately and arrested Ramu, one of the accused. Sub-inspector Suresh on Sunday November 22, expressed the confidence that the other two would be arrested soon.
As per the complaint, the woman had been taken to Shimoga by her colleague named Pooja on November 18, for visiting the house of Pooja’s relative. “Under the pretext of visiting the house of her grandmother in Hubli, Pooja took me in a car in which a few young men were sitting, who Pooja introduced to me as the people known to her, from in front of Shimoga bus stand. The car sped towards the city instead of Hubli. On the way, Puja got down under the pretext of recharging her mobile, and I was brought by the men to Mangalore, leaving her behind. When they tried to rape me after taking to a lodge near the KSRTC bus stand here, I raised an alarm, upon which the hotel staff came and sent all of us out. Then I was confined to an old house in Ashok Nagar here for two days, during which period, I was repeatedly raped by the men. I somehow escaped from there,” the woman said in a complaint registered in the police station.
