Tumakiuru, Mar 21: An official entrusted with the duty of detecting coronavirus symptoms through thermal scanning was found to be indifferent in discharging his duties at the railway station here.
The official who was found to be lax in discharging his duties was Narasimhamurthy, junior health inspector in the health department here. At the time of undertaking thermal scanning of the general public at the railway station, he was found to be not taking his job seriously and treating it as just a formality.
He was found to be undertaking thermal screening by holding his mobile phone on one hand and the screening machine on the other. Some people who captured his indifferent attitude towards work posted it in social websites where he came in for public disdain in liberal measure.
Since the last two days, thermal screening for the people is on both at Siddaganga Math and railway station here. The people were angry at the fact that he was reluctant to do his job sincerely at a time when the entire country is concerned about this virus. Narasimhamurthy, who was found to be conducting the test mechanically while simultaneously talking on the phone, stands suspended. The irresponsible way in which he was doing his work had become viral in social sites, and
district health officer Dr Chandrika, suspended him on the basis of his lacklustre work.
