Kasargod, Nov 22: Police have arrested eight more men relating to the disturbances that had rocked the district since the last few days. Last Sunday on November 15, tension erupted in the region after members of the Muslim League allegedly damaged a few BJP and CPM flags while taking out a bike rally as a part of the Muslim League convention following which two youth were killed.
The policemen have been on an arresting spree and with eight more added, the number of arrest has gone up to 17 members. The arrested are identified as K A Salim (30) of Kollambady, Rafique (26) of Chalarod, Vidyanagar, Sahad (16), Irshad (19), both from Anangoor, Riyaz (20) of Puttiri, M Riyaz (20) of Chattanchal, Iqbal (36) of Alampady and Abdul Fazal (22) of Pallangod.
It is reliably learnt, that the crime branch, during its investigation, has found that a 30-member gang was behind the violence unleashed in the district.
