Bangalore, Nov 20: Contrary to the popular belief, Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, admitted that the cabinet decision on collecting toll from ore and granite trucks, the most contentious issue that gave rise to a rebellion from the Reddy camp, has not yet been implemented.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday November 19, Yeddyurappa said that the decision is being discussed. In the cabinet meeting held on October 22, it had been decided to collect toll of Rs 1,000 from ore trucks and Rs 500 from trucks carrying granite, towards road repairs and flood relief. The decision was passed, in spite of vehement opposition from ministers-cum-mining barons, Janardan Reddy and Karunakar Reddy. It appears that the Reddys have complained to the high command on the issue and the party has succeeded in prevailing on the CM to put the decision on hold, although officially no one is willing to comment.
