Attention: Dr Santhosh Jacob's important message on coronavirus

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Mar 18: Amid news of spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in India, there is growing concern across the country. While people are uncertain how severe the situation will be or if the virus’ spreading will never stop, Dr Santhosh Jacob, director of Orthopedics and Sports Injury Management, Be Well Hospitals, Chennai, has stepped into social media to raise awareness about the fast spreading virus with an audio clip.

In the said audio message, which has reportedly received good response, Dr Santhosh says that not everyone suspected of coronavirus should go to get tested. “This is a message which is specific for India. In India we have a peculiar problem. Everybody who has coronavirus or is suspected of it should not go to get tested. India has 1.4 billion people and the kits we have is less than 1,50,000 at this point of time. So the coronavirus infection will be asymptomatic or will be mild only like a respiratory viral fever for 85% of the population.

“So anybody who has flu or cold, the first thing you do is isolate yourself and follow your symptoms. First you will have the contact with the virus. On day zero you will just feel a little fatigued. On day three you might have a mild fever with cough and an itchy throat. For a mild headache on and off day five, you might have some gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhoea or cramps, along with headache and your fever might be normal or it might increase. Day six, day seven, you will feel more body pain and headaches will reduce, diarrhoea might increase or might reduce, and but you will still have stomach upset like loss of appetite like symptoms. Now here it is what is very important. Most of your symptoms will reduce on day eight and day nine that is where you have to keep watching. Your symptoms will reduce to lower fever, lower body pain, and your energy will come back. Only your cough will persist with a runny nose which means that you are somebody who is resistant to coronavirus and have already formed resistance to it and your body is improving.

“Even now you do not have to get tested for coronavirus, because your antibodies have already formed. If somebody on day eight and day nine instead of starting to feel better, get worse, call coronavirus helpline and go to get tested because India has only 150,000 test kits at this point of time and we might be able to get a maximum of 1.5 million people tested. So we cannot afford to test everybody who is having just flu of two to three days. This will become a disaster.

“So as educated and informed citizens, I would advocate all of you to wait and follow the symptomatology which I gave you and if it is worsening, then only go to get yourself tested. Please do this and I will send you a drug protocol on what you should start on when you have flu like symptoms. I will send you a full proper protocol video of what to do. Testing should not be done as soon as you are afraid we do not have enough test kits. Like now my hospital is struggling to get N95 masks. I have been telling for the last four months India please do not wear masks. Masks are scary. Health workers do not have it. So please do not waste the blood tests also. It will become a disaster for India," he says.

Dr. Devi, this was one of the best message/instructions posted till date on this epidemic. I agree with all that you said, however post 9-10 days if no such symptoms at all, how would we know we're fine and what if our official asks us to get a fit to work or Covid-19 Negative Certificate? Can you please also guide on that because even if people are fit and fine post 10th day, how do they gain that trust in other's? Also India waits for your video as advised by you.... Cheers and hats of to you and all the doctors supporting India in this crucial phase ✌️❤️

I took the following steps -
    1. Stopped sugar completely
    2. Mediterranean diet during the weekend & Indian diet during the weekdays with 50% of the protein from Mangalorean Kichdi (Kichdi as per my understanding means food which is cooked beyond certain point) made of toor & masoor daal & raita made of red onion & greek yogurt.
    3. Switched to food which is very less spicy or not spicy at all. This is important as our actions depend on how our mind works & mind works according to how healthy is our stomach. If we eat spicy food then stomach lining gets destroyed & it doesn't supply the nutrients required for our mind & body. If our stomach lining gets destroyed & mind doesn't work then there is a possibility of getting negative thoughts.
    4. Switched to "Swastik" food. Swastik food is the one where proper temperature is maintained. Swastik food is different from organic food as the latter is grown with bio-fertilizers & former is food which is consumed before 6 hours or stored by maintaining proper temperature in refrigerator or freezer (glass containers & microwave for defrost can be used for this purpose).
    5. 1 hour of treadmill during the weekdays; now planning to shift to 1 hour of gym bike at home due to closure of our gym for Corona Virus.

Thank you, Doctor and thank you, Modiji, for the most efficient medical management of the deadly pandemic.

To my pleasant surprise today, there was absolutely no screening / testing of passengers flying into the US from India. We just walked out with our luggage!!

We should all treat this virus prevention on a war footing.
This is just the calm before the storm, before the pandemic reaches stage 2
Stage 2 will be staggering disaster and we should prevent this from occurring at all costs
At the moment only doctors nurses, and medical staff need the N95 masks besides those who are on day 9 of flu symptoms. We should all not panic and not store these masks for now. Give it to a health care professional instead, regardless of his religion.

"I have been telling for the last four months India please do not wear masks" says the doctor in this report.

Yes. I have been telling the same as well. But panicky people are not willing to listen.

Masks are completely useless for people who have no sneezes/coughs (as a result of the virus attack).

Valuable, logical, factual, timely and effective piece of advise from someone whom we really can heed advice from instead of hear say from the street or from something what we read on the net.

Temporary social distancing and limited social interaction is the need of the hour instead of panic and mayhem. Lets act responsibly as individuals and get through this period.

    Stay blessed.

God bless our doctor Dr. Devi. He is a laurel to Mangalore... to India. Thank you for your timely intervention and information. Many people will listen to you... There is no team deputed by the municipality /govt. Dept.. which goes house to house to create awareness among public. Those who stay a bit far from city do not know what's happening and why holidays?

There is so much false and erroneous information and rumors being broadcast on the internet and the media by so-called experts who have absolutely no medical knowledge or experience. Please heed only the directions and advice of experts like Dr. Shetty.
