Bantwal, Mar 18: Vittal police station personnel on Tuesday, March 17, arrested an absconding accused who was wanted in multiple cases under many several police station limits.
The arrested accused is Kodungai resident Mohammed Hanif alias Hanif alias Ali Hanif (46). He was absconding without appearing for police enquiries regarding criminal cases. Therefore, a case was registered against him at Vittal police station two years ago. But he continued to be underground. He was finally arrested on the basis of definite clues.
Several cases of thefts, robbery, honey trap and cheating are registered against him in Gadag, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Moodigere, Bengaluru, Subrahmanyapuram and Bantwal rural police stations. As he did not appear at police stations, the court had issued a warrant against him.
The arrest operation was conducted under the leadership of police circle inspector T D Nagaraj and directions of Vitla probationary PSI Vinod Reddy by staff Pratap Reddy, Jayakumar and Vinayak under the guidance of DSP Dr Laxmi Prasad and DySP Valentine D’Souza.
