Pune, Nov 19: A preliminary meeting was held at Karnataka Sangh auditorium in Dr Kalmady Shamarao High School, here recently, ahead of Vishwa Tulu Sammelan to be held at Ujire near Dharmastala of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka in December.
Vishwa Tulu Sammelan convening committee vice-president Dharmapala U Devadiga presided and inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the mother tongue, Tulu should be spoken in every household and also written, in order to pass on the heritage to the new generation. He also urged all Tulu natives settled in the City here to attend the Vishwa Tulu Sammelan to be held at Ujire.
City-based Bunts Sangh president Sadanand K Shetty said that Tulu is the lifeline of an individual. Tulu natives settled across the country and abroad should extend their support for the forthcoming Vishwa Tulu Sammelan, which was conceived by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala dharmadikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, in order to gather all Tulu natives on a single platform. The sammelan will also boost the cause of according national recognition to Tulu, added Shetty.
Billavara Association – Mumbai vice- president L V Amin, Bhandary Seva Sangh – Mumbai president Balakrishna P Bhandary, Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (NGO) former president Vishwanath U Mada, Tulu Koota president Jaya K Shetty, Kulala Sudharaka Sangh president S R Banjan, Pimpri – Chinchwad Bunts Sangh president Padmanabha Shetty and Katraj Sri Ayyappa Seva Sangh president Raghuram Rai among others were present on the dais.
The preliminary meeting was organized under the aegis of city-based Bunts Sangh, Billava Samaj Seva Sangh, Tulu Koota, Pimpri – Chinchwad Bunts Sangh, Kulala Sudharaka Sangh, Katraj Sri Ayyappa Seva Sangh, Gurudev Seva Balaga, Maha Ganapati Yakshagana Samiti Pimpri – Chinchwad Hotel Owner’s Association such other Tulu – Kannadiga Organizations.
Chandrahas S Shetty compered the programme. Journalist Kiran B Rai proposed the vote of thanks.
