Udupi, Mar 16: As approval to vacate sand mounds is obtained, deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha called a meeting of the committee consisting of seven members and tabled the decision to vacate the mounds. Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat has congratulated the deputy commissioner for his move.
It is decided in the meeting to distribute sand to 171 licence holders. As much as 7.15 lac metric tonne sand will be distributed within next 15 days as per approval obtained from KSCZM.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat thanked the deputy commissioner and the committee of seven members for quickly solving the problem. The MLA has expressed confidence that sand will be available to people soon and the sand issue will be solved.
