Sullia, Nov 18: “Mutual discussions in a harmonious atmosphere between all the groups concerned is the only solution to the frequent frictions and problems arising between the majority and minority communities in coastal Karnataka. The Minorities Commission has been moving on this direction,” said chairman of the Commission, Khusro Qureshi.
He was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the awareness camp organized for the mothers of minority children, held at Green View School here, under the aegis of Sarva Shikha Abhiyan, department of public instruction, office of the block education officer, block resource centre and Sullia Taluk unit of Jamiyyatul Falah on Monday November 16.
“BJP is neither anti-minorities nor anti-Muslim. As against a sum of only Rs 23 crore set aside by the earlier governments for minority welfare, the Yeddyurappa regime has earmarked Rs 176 crore,” he claimed.
Sullia town panchayat president, N A Ramachandra, who was the chief guest, said that as long as he is the president of the town panchayat, he will not allow frictions to break between different communities in the town.
T M Shaid, P A Mohammed, Rahim Uchchil, Haji Isfaq Saheb, Abbas Haji Kattekars, Arif Mogarpane and others were at the dais. On the occasion, Qureshi was felicitated by former president of Jamiyyatul Falah, Beeran Moidin.
