Bantwal, Mar 14: “A house to house campaign for awareness on coronavirus epidemic should be held in Bantwal taluk,” said Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik.
Obtaining advice and suggestions from the community hospital on Saturday in a meeting of doctors from various primary health centers, Tahsildar Rashmi S R, taluk health officer Dr Deepa Prabhu and hospital medical officer Dr Sadashiva said that immediate action will be taken to provide necessary facilities to the departments by the government.
“A village-level committee is formed for the purpose. Handbills with warnings to avoid anxiety but to take care are being distributed,” said taluk medical officer Dr Deepa Prabhu. She said that nearby Asha activists can be informed in case there are people with symptoms. Patients can voluntarily come and get examined also. The department should maintain confidentiality about it. Five beds are reserved for victims of the virus in Bantwal taluk community health hospital. Two people with the symptoms were in the ward for two days. The health department is keeping an eye on the health activities of the virus affected victims. Five beds each are reserved in Vitla and Vamadapadav community health centers,” he said.
“The staff who treat the patients need N95 masks. Other people do not require them. It is sufficient if they maintain hygiene. The masks are not available in medical shops and health care centers. The masks are in short supply after news that everybody should wear them,” said some doctors. The MLA said that he will look into it. Buda president B Devadas Shetty suggested that it is necessary to create awareness on the virus and hygiene through loudspeakers during fairs and in places where people gather.
