Bangalore, Nov 17: Senior Congressmen, who claim to being loyalists of the party since decades, staged a protest here on Sunday November 15, against what they termed as the party’s policy of giving royal treatments and offering top posts to migrant Congressmen, at the expense of long-term loyalists of the party.
A number of Congressmen, who staged a protest in front of the office of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Queens Road here, analyzed that the party faced debacle in the recent elections because of overlooking party loyalists. KPCC member Kadur C Nanjappa, Vinay Gandhi, D Muniraj and Dr Ramakrishna were among those who held the protest. “The leaders who deserted their parent parties like the BJP and the JDS, are treated with great respect and given plum posts. We have worked for over 40 years for the party, but we have been marginalized,” they alleged.
Because of the groupism prevalent in the Congress Party, the party could not grab power in the state. The party had thrown to the winds, the principle of ‘one man – one post’. B L Shankar, who changed loyalties and joined the party recently, has been given the post of the party spokesperson, apart from being accommodated in the party’s Core Committee, Election Campaign Committee, Manifesto Committee and Membership Drive Committee, they pointed out.
They also warned that they will stage a protest in front of the office of All India Congress Committee in New Delhi on December 2, if KPCC continues to snub sincere, long-term party workers.
