Puttur: Attack on Bajrang Dal activist - Two arrested

Puttur, Mar 13: In connection with the incident in which two masked motorbike-borne men had attacked a Bajrang Dal activist at Sarve in the taluk on the night of March 4 with lethal weapons, the police have succeeded in arresting two persons. A Barang Dal activist was injured after he was attacked with sharp weapons.

Teams of Puttur deputy superintendent of police and rural police station conducted a joint operation and arrested the two from near Panaje on Karnataka - Kerala border. The arrested persons have been identified as Shamir alias Chimmi (29) and Jainul Abid (27), both from Savanur.

The scooter that was used during the crime has been recovered from them, The police also led the accused to the spot of crime and conducted the inquest.

Two other accused, Nasir and Nazeer, have gone into hiding. The police are searching for them. The arrested accused were produced in the court whereupon they were remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.
